  • Need Ball Contact Advice Please!!

    Hello,
I haven't posted on here in a while but now since the season is started for me, and I have played a couple of rounds I am right back into it. I played yesterday for the 1st time this year at my home course (I had played a few weeks ago downstate). I shot a 49 on the first 9 and a 56 the second time around the 9 hole course. Today I shot a 52. I think I have the potential to be fine with just a couple little tweaks. Today I birdied the first hole, a 265 yard par 5 and got a par on one of the par 3's and I still only got a 52, haha.

Anyway, my short game is better than ever, but anything from 100+ yards including my drives are horrible. Sometimes I hit it well, but I do not think I am making good contact. I hit very high, and very short drives that go about 45* to the right. When I hit semi-straight, if I look at the ball mark in my driver face it is towards the heel of the club every time. Do you know what could cause these outcomes??

    -Thanks

From what you've written I suspect your problem lies with your balance and posture. My recommendation would be to examine the posture and balance of tour pros and using a mirror or reflection model your positions after the tour pros.

Here are a few pro images that you should benefit from modeling yourself after:

      1) If you are teeing your ball high for the driver and addressing the clubhead on the ground behind the ball then you should align the face towards the toe, as the head lifts higher at impact the ball will be closer to the heel. Try it?

      2) Purchase the 3Skills "Nail it book" and follow the lessons, you will start striking your irons like never before.

Wow, thanks for the help. The tip about the lifting of the club changing position of impact really does make sense. I did notice in the past couple days that when I hit and the driver/3 wood brushes the ground, I hit straighter. I got to work on that!

        -thanks
