Help me out guys. Yesterday I decided to go play nine instead of watching it on TV. I don't know what happened but it was like I had never stepped up to hit a ball before. I couldn't make up my mind how far to stand from the ball, where to put my hands, foot placement, the whole thing. When I would feel comfortable I would duck hook it, pull it really bad or just not know where it was going.

    Any suggestions???????????????

Was this at the driving range as you were warming up? Or was this on the first tee after you went from your car and the pro shop?

There are very few of us that can go right from the car to the first tee. It usually takes me about 4 holes to get my groove on if I was late arriving and was forced to play right away.

Otherwise, I never miss an opportunity to warm up properly...it sure takes the pressure off having to perform perfectly right out of the blocks.

If you warm up and STILL have problems on the first few holes and this is unusual for you, then this hopefully is just that it was one of those rare occasions. I would laugh it off and expect you to return back to being normally comfortable again. Don't go changing your swing around and worrying just because of this one-time issue.

      Do you normally play OK?

Sounds like you had a head full of doubts and maybe swing thoughts. Do you practice a nice simple swing that you can call on if all else goes toast?

And just how many beers had your consumed to that point? Obviously your mind was not there and if you normally hit the ball OK this was just an abberation. Just try concentrate on your setup routine next time out and try not to rush.
