Played 2 rounds this weekend so sat down and analysed my stats.
Shot 74 and 75 (CSS69 - Par 70)
Missed 4 fairways all day - GIR 15 in round 1 and 14 in round 2
37 putts in round one and 36 in round 2.
I knew my putting was poor but what surprised me most is that because Im a relatively long hitter and a relatively short course I hit 49 shots from inside 40yds in round 1 and 48 shots from the same distance in round 2.
Really proved to me that, to improve its my putting and chipping I need to improve on
I found I left nearly all of my long putts short of the hole - some more than 6ft short. Im much better on quicker greens where I have to stroke the ball rather than "hit" it. I struggle to hit the ball hard enough - could be a poor stroke or could it be because I use a relatively light putter (or one that feels relatively light?
Next lesson is going to be a putting lesson!!
