  • Sand Wedge trouble

I seem to be very inconsistent when it comes to taking a full swing with a sand wedge. Sometimes my shots go 70 yards and sometimes they go about 40 yards. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong to cause this. When I hit the sand wedge 40 yards, it seems like the trajectory is much higher than it should be, similar to the trajectory of a lob wedge. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

You could be flipping (scooping). I have periods when I do that, particularly with the shots up to 100 yards. I think in my case, I have it in my mind that because of the severe loft, I have to get the leading edge under the ball.

I would make sure that at impact the hands are leading and the shaft is leaning forward.

check the club lie when adressing the ball that you don't have it too open.

keep your hands ahead of the ball and make a nice steady sweaping motion swing through the ball like your hitting a 4i.
