carpal clunk

Real shot in the dark this but I have recently discovered I have a carpal clunk!! Put as simply as possible, the bones in my hand are too close together meaning that one of the hand bones contacts one of the wrist bones during the swing, meets it and then rides over it causing immense pain and frankly no chance of playing golf ever again, which is a pity as in my youth I got down to 1 handicap. I could just about cope then but with the advancing years comes growing and hardening bones, hence the situation. The specialist say's that they could fuse the four hand bones together which could allow me at least to get back into the game but would restrict movement severely. What I would like to know is, has anyone has had this operation and what was the result.
