  • Thumbs down golf swing theory

    Hi
I am a new member looking for a place to discuss golf while I wait for Maryland's winter months to move on.

My current interest is Alan Martin's swing theory based on thumbs up, thumbs down swinging. Has anyone purchased his material? Is this theory worth a look?

    Happy holidays!

No, just checked it out on Utube...like the "hammer swing" and "3skills golf" I think they are worthwhile attempts to get the average golfer off the body mechanics thought and actually try to hit the ball in a particular way. The object in golf is NOT to have a pretty swing. The object is to hit a particular spot on the ball with a particular spot on the club. Club face awareness has been long minimized by many teaching pros...it should be the focus with swing mechanics as a means to an end and never a swing thought IMHO.

Since I have focused on club face awareness, it has made a tremendous difference in my game...the good swing just happens.

The opposite of having a good swing and good contact just happens. Some of us just can't process that many thoughts or put that much money into lessons.

The best lessons I've had this past year, have been discussions on club face awareness with a local pro....went from sitting on my butt and talking to dropping 5 strokes W/O ever going to the range....this stuff is worth it.

Save yourself some money, and check utube out for "thumbs down" and "Hammer swing" thoughts as well as reaearch "3skills golf"...they all have the same goal...club face awareness.

        Thanks

I will check it out, I like the idea and I have probably been too worried about the swing to achieve good results

Check out the two reviews on amazon.com
It seems a lot like AJ Bonars Philosophy
