  • Please correct my swing

    Hello,

3 days ago i filmed myself in the practice, can you please help me to correct this swing ?

I have a video from 5 days ago too, after a look i changed my backswing but still flat.

I will make a new video tomorrow if i can, a lot of new changes... short gripping on all clubs, i really don't know how to correct that swing and plane.

Thank you all (and really sorry for my english)

    Re: Please correct my swing

First: You have a good swing, well done.

Your only fault I can see is that you are using a one plane swing and standing too upright, this is creating a too shallow shoulder plane. Stick out your butt a little more and bend from the hips so that you have a more balanced stance.

    This video may help you:

Thank you for your reply, standing too upright, you mean my clubs are too long ? I'm gripping short already, the only way is to grip short more ?

The one plane swing i really don't understand, it's a big problem ?

      I found this on google : http://www.mountainweb.com/oneplaneg...two_plane.html

At the top of the backswing i would like to have this position, i tried months and months and i can't do it : http://www.oneplanegolfswing.com/ima...position-4.jpg

If you bend more from the hips you will need to stand further away from the ball, you probably don't need shorter irons. The reason you are gripping down is because you are standing too upright and close to the ball.

Study this video, it will assist you to better understand how to setup and build the relationship between your swingplane and posture.

          Re: Please correct my swing

Thanks ! I understand now why i'm gripping so short !

Tomorrow i will work that point and make a new video.

More fare from the ball and that's it, my head is moving too up to down, is that normal ? Any tips for correct that ?

Your head should not move up and down in the swing or very little. The first video I posted for you should help you with that, your head lifted due to your spine rising up. Work on your balance.

You can work on your setup and swing now and have a club fitter check your clubs out for you, they may not be correct for your build.

                Re: Please correct my swing

I just come back from "Fitting one" in Thaniya building.

They changed my lies and my grips, i said them i bought a second hand set and need to fit them.

Iron / Previous lie / New lie

                2 : 60 1/2 - 55
                3 : 61 - 56
                4 : 61 1/2 - 57
                5 : 62 - 58
                6 : 62 1/2 - 59
                7 : 63 - 60
                8 : 63 1/2 - 60
                9 : 64 - 61
                P : 64 1/2 - 61

                5.5° to 3.5°.

For the grips he said my grips were very big for my hands, i choosed Iomic small size, a Japan grip very popular here.

                236$ for grips and lie.

The SW is C9 and the shafts are the sames because the new were very expensive so i didn't buy new ones, 420$ for lite nippon shafts...

I will make a new video tomorrow or after tomorrow, he said better to wait before play.

And again, sorry for my english.

                  Re: Please correct my swing

                  Hey there,

Your 3 wood vid is better than your iron vid because the screen isn't squashed.

To me, your posture looks fine and you look like an accomplished player.

Only thing I'd look at (and it's my fault aswell) is that a quarter of the way through your backswing your clubhead has already gone inside your hands.

Consequently, halfway back your club is very laid off and pointing at your mate rather than at/inside the ball.

To correct it you stand the club up in the dowswing and it looks OTT but it's just a plane shift that is the reverse of what you need (IMO).

As I see many similarities between your and my swings, I would guess that you can hit a decent ball but periods of inaccuracy plague you along with sudden seemingly inexplicable losses of power (with the leeky shots being high right), but I reckon you can shoot around par if your short games good.

In summary, don't employ so much wrist roll in the takaway and keep the clubhead level or just ourtside your hands.

The rest looks pretty good. A video from face-on may uncover other stuff though.

                    Re: Please correct my swing

Yes i can shot the par but sometimes i really don't know what i do, a lot of slices or hooks, if i can drive and play my irons normally it's not a problem, anyway i have fitted my irons 2 to PW (lie and grips) and it will be more easy now. The lie were not standart, no ?

I don't need anymore to grip very short, concerning my driver he told me with a new grip it will be more easy too, the old grip was big sized and i have really small hands (size 23).

Tomorrow if i can a new video, today was the fitting day

                      Re: Please correct my swing

I still suggest your shoulder plane is too upright and that was making you stand too close to the ball causing your inconsistent shots. Now that your clubs fit better you should be able to take a more balanced stance that will improve consistency.

                        Re: Please correct my swing

One thing I see, when you take the club back your lift your head up, then move it back down when on the downswing. When your eyes change levels like that its harder to get consistent contact. Might be worth a try.

I believe we have a gagster here (note name: almost Hogan spelled backwards), and the fractured English sounds like it came from a Seinfeld episode.

A "gagster" is someone who is having fun, playing a joke, putting people on, as you doubtless are doing.
