The secret will help to allow your hands lead into impact...which will create more solid contact. Flipping causes the club face to lead into impact and that will cause weak, inconsistent strikes. Casting is a problem where you get outside-in paths into impact and that creates slices...but also extends the release too soon and you loose the last whipping acceleration needed for power and the important "inside-out" path.

    So, yes...It will help.

      Hi Greg,

Can you release with wrist rotation (supination) using the secret?

Yes Greg, I know this but I was considering that the secret may hinder the right hand rotating over while pinned back.

As a side issue, can the secret be used in a full swing or is it just for half swings, pitches etc

when i tried using the secret before it seemed as if i had problems stabilizing it on my hand because of casting the bands would stretch but my swing is a little different in shoulder turn now so i will try it at the park driving ranges arent open yet in DETROIT.....i will try posting my swing maybe i have poor weight shift or something maybe i hold the club too tight, .....the list could go on for days for all i know

                  Hi trob,

I was interested to see you questioning if casting is an issue with weight shift, and you mention you think you are loading on the right side because you turn your shoulder, and you also mention you feel like you are flipping.

I have mentioned on this forum that I once had a difficult time recognizing and resolving similar issues. I did not have much distance and there were other issues like inconsistent strikes. I made a big shoulder turn, so I figured that my weight was shifting back to load up. I tried to made a bigger turn, but that did not help, I still had no pop and I felt like my arms were being thrown at the ball.

I eventually found I had a reverse pivot, so although the shoulders were turning, but my weight was perched on my front leg. The more I turned my shoulders, the more weight went forward over that leg. From here, the hips and knees cannot shift forward to start the downswing, and all you can do is use your shoulders (over the top) and cast your arms to propel the club forward to the ball. You end up flipping at impact.

I remedied this by taking my back swing away low and around/up with my shoulders, arms and body together and linked. I try to get the shoulder turn lined up with the back foot. This will get the weight shifted and you are loaded on the back leg, so you can start your downswing with the shifting of the lower body to move the weight forward, so you have a solid foundation to rotate around. You will not feel the need to cast and you can let the arms drop and swing on plane quite naturally.

This is the main part of what I think may be your problem, as it was for me. The downswing and all that follows is the usual, which I won't bore you and the others with.

If you want to know how to check for the reverse pivot let me know.

I hope this helps, if not you, someone else.

I found that The Secret was excellent for my chipping, pitching etc but I couldn`t use it for my full swing as I found I couldn`t release properly.

                      Hi Ted,

Following on from a thread you posted regarding Don Trahan I subscribed to his 10 free email videos teaching his swing method that is forgiving for the back, I have back problems myself and thought I would see what he says.

Regarding weight shift his system gets you to preset your weight on the rear foot at setup for the full swing so that you only have to consider a forward weight shift in the downswing.

                        Hi Brian,

It's easy to see why his method does not harm the back. He promotes the use of the hips hardly being used either in the back swing, and not being thrown forward and rotating on the forward swing. On the BS, his method is perhaps 22 degrees turn versus 45 degrees with the conventional method. It should be noted, because he does not like the left wrist to cup, the BS is restricted to 3/4 anyways. The forward swing is basically turning the whole body around inside the barrel, no throwing the hips, so no pressure on the lower back. I don't recall off hand which of the old golf instructors promoted that as well.

from having my swing analyzed at golftec....my backswing was ok nothing to note of an issue if your familiar with their system...my impact was all red and yellow which notes an issue.....i use to REV PIV but not anymore i was told i load my right side correctly.....what you suggested makes a lot of sense cuz i do feel like my lower body does not lead my downswing the crazy part is i have not suffered from power leakage cuz i carry a 9 close to 145-150 3 200-205.........having my body more in synch makes total sense....i have tried really finishing on my left side and keeping my lead arm straight in the back swing seems to help with contact......also maintaining my spine angle and more like rotating around it.....just need to be more consistent with it

                            Hi trob,

When I was younger, even with my swing issues, I was able to muscle the ball out for good distance. I've always been strong in the upper body and I felt that the swings were all back, shoulder and arm powered.

I'm curious as to what exactly does golftec tell you about your yellow red impact. How does that test identify/measure the impact issues you mention? Is it possibly showing that the club head has lost loft, i.e. your hands are not leading the club head or the wrists are flipping?

what they do is they measure average players on tour for instance my shoulder turn is between 79 and 82 degrees so that would be green.....yellow means there might be something to look at and red is like HEY LOOK you are not doing this correctly...they measure shoulder tilt waist bend etc.....i noticed that i bring the club down to the 90 degree angle and then booya...i release too earlyit seems its from not turning my hips and clearing to the left fully at impact....that is from throwing my arms at the ball from looking at how pros swing and my swing its like my hips havent turned to the target enough well not until the follow through.....havent figured out how to get the hips facing the target before i hit the ball
