  • Swinging inside out - need help!

As a new golfer I am doing my best to improve my form. My next thing I guess I need to work on is my swing. I am told that I am swinging inside out and not sure what kind of drills I can do to improve this. I am not sure how it should feel or can not see myself and how I should look.

Right now I am hitting my drives right, not a slice but due right. Can anyone give me some advice or tips to try next time I am on the range?

    Hi nathanm,

Take a look at this thread. It seems like the same problem applies to you. You are pushing or blocking or block slicing.

As for the drill, you could stick a broken shaft or plastic "tomato post" into the ground, so it would prevent you from whipping the club back too much inside. The shaft would be about 3 feet to your right side as you set up, angled to match the desired plane, the base planted on your extended toe line. When you make your backswing, and the shaft will be there to guide you from going too much inside or picking the club too vertical.

I believe V J uses a shaft also, but in his case he places the shaft on the follow through side, so it conditions him to hold the follow through more down the line, rather than finishing to the left. He wants to power fade the ball.
