  • Butt end of club loose in top of backswing?

I recently picked up my golf game, use an interlocking grip and got a few blisters. I picked up some books and found the club wasn't sitting far enough in my fingers in my right hand(right handed). I since have fixed that problem but now feel the butt end of the club a little wobbly on the top of the backswing. Is this normal? If not what do I do?

    thanks,

    Hi Vectorinvestor,

If your clubs have been sized for you correctly, the butt end of your club should sit in your palm of your hand resting against the heel bone of your left hand. As the proper grip has the grip resting in the middle section of your fingers, the clubs will naturally rest against the proper part of your hand.

If you have to choke up on your clubs by a considerable amount (which it sounds like you are) you should take your clubs into your local repair shop and get them to fit you for the proper length. All this involves is removing the grips, cutting down the shaft and re-gripping your clubs. Depending on the grips desired, this process can be as cheap as $3/club and can rise to $15/club. You may even get lucky enough to slavage your grips if they can be 'blown off' and that would considerably cut down the cost.
