  • Drill to help with Set up

I've spent months working on my swing. I can't for whatever reason do a decent backswing and get the club facing the target. I am always way across the line aiming right. I can't understand why.

Anyway my golf hit an alltime low on Sunday, scored an 84 in a medal, my worst medal for about 10 years. I've tried a million different idea's, drills, nothing works.

Out of desperation I remembered this drill. I hold the club out in front of me parallel to the ground and turn my shoulders. This is a good position at the top; club is square to the target, wrists fully cocked etc. From there I simple unwind my shoulders, bring my arms down and I have a new setup.

This new setup felt very different to my normal setup. I mean totally different !

I played today, the weather conditions were poor, it was 35 mph winds. I topped a 3 iron off the first tee so I had my doubts but after that I hit some great shots. Scored a gross 72, hit most fairways and greens. Best round for 6 weeks.

My swing felt so different, but it felt good.

Strange thing is I can't replicate the new setup without doing the drill.

Works with putting as well. I set up, place the putting on the inside path a few inches back and then move back behind the ball. That feels different as well !

Anyway I hope it lasts !

Re: Drill to help with Set up

A couple of weeks on and I'm hitting the ball like a dream !

Played 2 rounds; 72 and 75. In poor conditions as well !

What I enjoy about my putting is the ball starts on the line I want it to. Before I had no idea where the ball was going to go; even with putts !
