  • limited on driver distance

    Hi all.

I would be most appreciatave with views on the following. I use a cobra 9o 440z driver along with a cobra 3 wood and love them both. I do not have any issues with the clubs but with the distance I am achieving. I hit my driver on average about 250 yds no problem. But I am also able to make this distance with my 3. Having played for nearly ten years and taken lessons regularly, I have a good knowledge of the game, set up, and all required to be consistent and make regular good scores. my question is what or where should I be looking to achieve extra distance with my driver? I know I should probably post my swing and will try to get around to doing this. In the meantime, any opinions would be most grateful.

go and get properly fitted for a driver
a lot of players hit their 3 woods better than their driver because of the extra loft

Thanks for that slater. I have thought about that before, but my coach says my clubs are perfect for my height and I dont really need a fitting. For example, with my irons (cobra ssi) I can hit most all of them good average distance, e.g. wedge 120yd, 8 140 etc. Therefore with these distances achieved, shouldnt it follow that I should get an average distance return from the driver?

when lowpost (ben) chimes in he will give you the lowdown

but its about getting an ideal match for the head with the shaft, your angle of attack, spin rates, launch angles etc

may well be that your 3 wood is set up perfectly for you while your driver isnt

FWIW i used to hit my cobra HS9 3 wood further than my cobra HS9 driver till i dropped lucky on a TM burner driver

        longest club ive ever hit
