  • Backswing Problems?

This is my first post. I hope I am doing it right. A few years ago I was playing to a 12 and thought everything might be going my way. Wrong! I have rocketed to a 21 and have developed a rather 'nasty, ugly' loop at the start of my downswing. The loop is so dramatic it makes my swing extremely flat and the club looks as if it comes through like a baseball bat. I just set up a net and have been videoing this ugly mess and it appears the start of my backswing is moving to the extreme outside. I think it might have something to do with the position at the top so I am wondering if anyone has some sort of idea how I can get this backswing back on track. Is there a trick 'swing thought' or something that can assist me? OR........it may not be the start of the swing that causes the loop. What's up? Please. Thank you.

      Hi , Three putt,
You may be experiencing a brake down in your wrists at the top of your swing. If that happens all kinds of disastrous things can happen. It is often seen in juniors and people who have not played for some time.I have also seen this in ladies who are using clubs that are to heavy for them. Without seeing it it is a bit of a shot in the dark.Try standing in front of a mirror or someone you know and run through your swing slowly, are you getting a solid steady cocking of your wrists,if you can't, do an exercise designed to strengthen both wrist and forearms, I know when I haven't played for awhile I end up with a very sore left forearm for some time. I hope this helps.
      Regards, Peter
