    The OP is most likely sacrificing pure contact for speed. You need both. Keep the speed and learn how to make consistent pure contact with a square clubface. When you have this, and the inevitable large increase in distance, then you can monkey with the launch and the spin to squeeze out a few more yards.

      I've heard it said that your driving distance should be double your full swing 9 iron distance (net distance, carry and roll). I find this to be fairly accurate, in that my reliable 9 iron distance is 140 yards; my best, but not typical, drives, are about 280. In short, my 9 iron is far more reliable than my driver, distance-wise, but apart from that the ratio seems about right. Maybe that's a better way to assess what's going on, as opposed to swing speed and a table.
