Does anyone adjust distance for range balls?

I'm really getting back into this great sport but still trying to zero in distance at the range. Do any of you adjust distance with hitting range balls for what you will hit on the course with brand new quality golf balls.

Also I'll eventually buy new some new irons, anyone comment on dis and advantages to graphite/steel shafts,

I find at the range you tend to hit the balls further due to them being two piece "rocks", also you have no presure and usually your loose with repetitive swinging.
If you want to sort your yardages out find some practice ground and hit 6 good balls with each club in two different directions into and with the wind. This should give you a good idea of your hitting distance.

As for club selection I would suggest you hit as many as possible with the local Pro to see what suits you, don't go with the idea of what you want, go with what hits the ball best for you.

I have played a blade type club for years then just gone to Callaway X16 pro series, they look ugly but they are very consistant and now getting used to the look!!!! "What feels good is all you are looking for"

The distance you get at the range from range balls can be extremely different that with 'real' balls. Range balls are usually some sort of defect balls that didn't pass strict testing from the manufacturers. The best thing to do is hit a club that you know the exeact distance of and adjust according to that.

As for graphite vs. steel shafts, it all depends on your ability. Since you don't have any info filled in on your profile, it's hard to give specific advice. Generally, graphite is for the higher handicappers and steel for the lower handicappers, but there is many different reasons for each. Swing speed, weight and torque are the biggest factors when determining which shaft is best for you. As for club heads, as long as they look good, that's all that matters. The performance of the club is mostly in the shaft, so once you determine which shaft you like and which club head you like, combine the two and you should be an extremely happy golfer!!!!

tbh I thought range balls are 1 piece balls designed to not travel as far as 2 piece balls you use on the course. I typically get another 15 - 20 yards on the course.

On shaft type it is down to personal preference and the quality of the shaft your using. Something to try when looking at different clubs is to hold the blade in one hand and the grip in the other, twist it and see how far the club head will rotate. On poor quality shafts it will twist too much and this is what will be happening through the swing, especially if you have a powerful. If you have a soft swing though they do help in gaining extra yards, main thing is to get the best shaft type possible.

I personally went from graphite to steel as i prefer the feeling but is just down to taste.
