  • Cut tee shot that bounces forward

Any tips on hitting a cut tee ball that does not fall straight down. Looking for a flat cut that bounces forward and runs. Have the draw that does this but wondering if guys can hit a fade that runs.

    Ball strikers, please chime in.

There is no real magic bullet for that. A draw or hook closes the clubface at impact reducing loft, this results in a lower flying shot that will roll more. A fade or slice requires the clubface to be open thus adding loft to the face, this results a higher flying shot that lands softer with less resulting roll. The only way to improve it a little is to use a lower lofted driver and hit the fade with a fairly level swingpath.

You can hit a low ball with either a cut or hook. I've hit cuts that don't get 10 feet off the ground and run for miles.

It's all about experimentation. Most people move the ball up in their stance when hitting a cut. Try keeping it more toward the middle (not in the middle though) with a low lofted club. Get those hands forward at impact, weaken your grip slightly and watch your manufactured cutty stinger exocet fly!

Thanks, Neil. I'll try that today.

This sounds like it might help. Thanks.
