I think I struggle with alignment and just wanted to know how people align their shots. Generally i'm not too bad at aligning on a tee box due to the markers on the ground (granted they dont always point towards the flag) and the fact I can place the line of the ball towards the target. Its when i'm on the fairways ect that I find it hard to align. I think this is generally a major problem for all amateurs, because if you can't align properly then what are the chances of being able to make a good swing and thus hit the target...

Re: How to align properly?
Hi Mike,
This thread may be of help to you.

You will see many pros doing this, if you carefully watch their pre-shot movements.

Re: How to align properly?
Stand behind the ball and look through to the target, find something in front that is in the target line like a leaf, a divot or blade of grass no more than 3 feet away. Align your clubface to that then align yourself parallel left to the clubface.Last edited by BrianW; 07-29-2009, 11:58 PM.

Re: How to align properly?
Thanks guys. I had a bit of a nightmare on the course today and couldn't understand why, as I was straight on the range. Many times i'd feel my feet were aiming one way and the club face another. Needless to say there's no way I was going to be able to stay on plane ect. The way I was setting up was looking from behind the ball then squaring my feet to where I thought the target line was. One hole I set up knowing the tee box markers were aiming left. I thus lined up to where I thought the target line was. I hit the drive well left onto another fairway. I then put my club down along where my feet were aiming and low and behold it was left. So now i'm going to place a lot of emphasis on aligment whereas before I was worrying too much about whether I was on plane and hitting down on the ball all of which wont matter if I can't even aim towards the damn target...
