  • how to swing hybrids

Ok, I am having a hard time figuring out the proper way to address and swing with a hybrid. I got a 22 and 25 degree. I hit better with the 22. The 25 is a complete mystery to me, I hit my irons much better than that thing, and I have this 7 wood too that I hit really good with. I thought I would try the hybrids. Obviously I'm doing something wrong. Sometimes I hit great with them and think to myself "great decision" and other times I'm scratching my head trying to figure out what I did last time.

What is the general thought about where to put the ball in my stance for these clubs, how to address the face, etc..? How do you play these?

I'm playing the Taylor Made Rescue 4 and 5.

      Great video Brian.

The only thing I would add to what the video shows is the timing of the arms to the body. I have found for myself that if my timing breaks down(usually the arms lagging behind the body and accompanied with a belt the ball with all my might thought) then I will always duff the shot. So when I am going to hit my hybrid I make sure my practice swing focus includes the timing of body and arm motions.

Yes, I agree, that is an important factor with all clubs.

I also havr two hybrids,23 degree and a 25 degree. I have found that I hit a " draw" each time I make good contact with the ball with both clubs. I usually do not draw the ball with my other clubs. What do you think the reason might be? I do hit them well now that I " play the draw" into my shot.

SAME THING: Ping Raptor 22deg hybrid- a draw that's almost a hook.
None of my other clubs behave like this one does...Wil

Someone like LP could confirm (or otherwise) but I suspect that the offset nature of most hybrids promotes at least a draw and, if you (as a rightie) have a right to left shape in the first place that this can quickly progress to a hook.

              That's my excuse anyhow
