Re: Video Lesson - Slices and Shanks

great video man. Much more intuitive than many professionals which i like a lot. Especially liked the fact u allow a slcier to aim a litle right (essentially to compensate for their swing path).

I find rather than talking about mechanics all the time, getting a slicer to close the face (through either mor rotation, stronger grip or simply starting the clubface more left) until the ball starts turning left in the air (basically a pull draw). When they can acheive this a player will naturally start to close their body off and basically be hitting pulls towards the target.

Often i can leave them like this and they play great golf (sure its not perfect but there may be several reasons why a person cant swing in to out). Sometimes they come back and they are much shallower and in to out intuitively, and all the usual **** that comes with the over the top ( upper body dominant, poor synch, right arm in front of body, rich shoulder starting down etc) all dissapear without me telling them any of it.

Too much emphasis is placed on giving people technically perfect (who the hell decided that what we do today is correct technically anyway) swings before a player learns how to control the ball ( essentially controlling swing path and clubface relationship to it) which is what you talk about here.

    Props
