  • Three Wood Hooks

Does anyone out there have advice on how to stop the three wood hooks?
I know I'm doing something wrong, but it only affects my fairway woods.
My driver is fine and my long irons fly pretty straight. I must be overswinging
or playing the ball too for forward. Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

I can only speculate that your club face is closing at impact. For me, this occurs more often if I play the ball farther forward as you suggest or don't adjust properly for an uneven lie. If you play the ball two inches inside the left heal for example on all shots as I do, than stance width would also effectively change how far forward or back it is. So if my ball placement is correct, than too wide a stance like a driver's stance, and being little too aggressive, and I may tend to hook the ball.
If the rest of your clubs have consistently straight ball flight, that would indicate to me that ball placement may be the culprit.
Better thoughts I'm sure will come along.
    Regards..

Thank you. I'm sure you're correct. As soon as it quits raining I'm going to the range and give this a try.

I envy you; when it stops snowing is my proviso for course correction.

i used to have that problem, too, I changed my 3 wood to shallower face one, easier to hit, and better shot trajectory. I love this game

Yesterday was better. I changed to a higher loft (15.5) shallow faced three wood. Also, I started hitting down through the ball instead of sweeping. Subsequently, I got much better results.
