Re: My swing video
Take some of the flex out of your knees, this will bring the rear closer to the heals of your feet. When viewing from dtl the shaft drops below your right forearm when the shafts parallel to the ground, this forces you to reroute to the top. Keep the shaft above the forearm, taking the clubhead straight to your right shoulder.
When viewing from dtl ideally the right hip/right shoulder will slant/work behind you, your left knee will be visible working to wards your instep not breaking to the right. Done correctly the left shoulder will work underneath
the chin not across forcing the spine to raise.
When you start the downswing your upper body/right side dives towards the ball.
Here's a drill you can work with. Stand a couple of inches from a wall with your arms across your shoulders. Now begin the BS your right hip should move back/slant towards the wall slightly brushing it, right shoulder will of followed left moved down and around the chin. Most dont have the flexibility at first so allow your head to move to right to make a 90% turn.
Start the downswing with the left knee towards the target it'll feel like a sprinter taking off from the blocks. This will unwind the right side without having to use your hand and arms. You can also do this drill using your arms without a club if you do it right you'll rotate to your left and hit the wall with the back of the left hand....Good Luck

Thanks for the reply. Just one or two questions if you don't mind me asking? Could you maybe explain the first paragraph again: when you say that my shaft drops below my forearm when parallel with the ground, do you mean when the shaft is parallel at the top of my back swing? (i'm not 100% sure because the shaft is also parallel with the ground just after the start of my swing as well).
Then just to clarify, do you mean my upper body/right side is diving down towards the ball and it shouldn't be doing that?
Thanks again.

How is your ball flight?
My main concern at the moment is the lack of consistency in my shots. When i'm practicing on the range I seem to hit a fair amount of my shots fat/thin, not too badly, but it just gets frustrating.

Re: My swing video
When the shaft starts to rise above the knees and the hands rise to hip level your shaft is shallow/laid off and below the right forearm. This also forces one to come down steep in the downswing it's kind of a rebound effect your not utilizing the lower body. The upper body is twisting over your lower half...

Re: My swing video
I've been to the range the last couple of days trying to work on bringing my club directly to my right shoulder and not letting the shaft get shallow on the backswing but i'm struggling a bit.
The main problem i'm having is what exactly should be happening with my wrists and my club face during the back swing? With my original swing (the one in the video I posted), I felt as though everything happened naturally with my wrists and club face, and I didn't really need to think about it at all. But now when i'm trying to bring the club up directly to my right shoulder, it feels as if I need to open the club face very early in my back swing to be successful, or put differently it feels as if I need to hinge/cock my wrists back/up early in my backswing (not sure if i've used the correct terms there)
Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: My swing video
Your really not going to be doing anything different concerning the wrist and arms, just not letting the shaft shallow in the initial backswing.
This is where the mirror work helps a, couple of aids: a golfshaft with a tennis racket taped to it so you don't over rotate... a broom cut the handle down to the size of an iron or driver. There's many different ways some prefer the toe straight up...some in line with the spine...others opened...
For a beginner you'll want to learn to control the club in this manner...

Re: My swing video
Main issue is in the setup. Need to stand in much more athletic posture.
Try this sequence
1. Stand tall with shoulders back, legs straight
2. Bend forward from the hip joints (not the waist or back) you might feel a stretch on the hamstrings depending on the flexibility
3 Unlock the legs just a little bit to lower down to the ball
4. You should feel the weight on the balls of your feet. (for you it will probably feel on your toes)
Post your swing again after doing this. As a professional golfer, I find the setup has the biggest effect on the swing motion.
Good luck
This rest of your swing is occuring because of how you setup.

Re: My swing video
Looks like you take it back inside and come over the top...which is a common problem with beginners. From looking at that video i can assume that you're miss is a a slice to the right. The best thing you can try to do is to take the club back steeper so that you lose that over the top move. Try to think of jim furyk's swing but not that exaggerated.
Good luck!
