hello everyone! played 18 yesterday and had a horrible round for me. not that i play great or anything, if i play bogey golf im happy, for the most part. but yesterday was terrible, double bogey and worse. my problem seems to be coming over the top. everyone says my first move is turning my shoulders, then swinging the club, causing pull or a pull slice. ball contact was horrible. i need help to correct this issue. any drills or thoughts would be nice. thanks steve

Re: need help dropping in the slot!!!!!
Hi Steve,
You will need to initiate your downswing with a transfer or weight from the back to the front foot with a small bump of the left hip and keeping your back to the target, this will pull the arms and shoulders down so that the club is in the release position.
The Pump drill is a great way to ingrain the correct feeling. See the attached video:

Re: need help dropping in the slot!!!!!
1st you need to check simple things, 1) make sure your grip is correct - not too weak, 2) alighment - critical - for example if you are aimed too far right you may pull the ball left- remember you FOOT aligment may be 25-30 left of the target - lay down 2 parallel clubs - the far one for the club head and the near one for your feet alignment 3) make sure you right elbow is below your left elbow at address - more for the driver and less for the wedge, 4) have someone check your club position at the top - if it is too laid off the club will feel heavy and you need your shoulders to pull it back to the - hence over the top. if you don't have a swing plane you can set up a carry bag next to you with the bag approximating the plane of the swing. hope any or all of this helps.

Re: need help dropping in the slot!!!!!
Very simply, if you "allow" the club to do its thing without getting the arms or hands involved, you will drop into the slot.
Trying to steer or control the downswing with arms has ruined many a good swing.
