  • all over the place!

hi guys. first time post on here.

    a bit about me:

am a 10 handicapper and have been for about a 18months. ive come to the conclusion that if im gonna break through the next level im gonna have to start learning how to hit it properly.

i really struggle with coiling / turning my body back and through the ball. i also am very poor at releasing the club through the ball, which would explain why my iron ball striking is very poor and inconsistant. (bad shot being high cut with no distance )

i wanna stop hitting it with my arms and start swinging properly! any ideas how this can all click in my head would be very gratefully recieved!

look at the ad below your post, peak performance golf. I have been working with this method for the past 6 weeks. Trahan, advocates 3/4 shoulder turn limited vertical swing - it is simple and body friendly. For the most part, it contradicts the full shoulder turn methods of swinging - it is more old school but at least for me seems to be effective. I shot 40 at Bethpage blue course front nine which is actually a very difficult 9, with one 3 putt and 2 misplaced drives. In the past I have rarely broken 45 on this nine. The main point of this method, I guess as in any other swing method, is that the setup determines the motion. So, if you are all over the place, and a 10 handi, you must have a great short game and an in consistent long game. Even if you don't like this swing approach, I would recheck your fundamentals of grip, posture and ball position - especially ball position for more consistency.

yeah my short game is quite tight. easiest thing to practice!

as i said its hitting irons crisp that's the problem. i think i tend to come into it very steep, probably cos im coming over the top more aggresively the more club i have in my hand.

wedges seem to be nice and smooth, but put anything from a 8 iron and above in my hand and its arms and shoulders all the way. if i do try longer irons smoothly there isnt enough speed to get the ball airbourne. and there also comes the problems with not commiting

il take a loook at that link.
