  • what to do with hands in impact?

    Hi there

have a question about the hands from the top of backswing to impact. When you start to turn them back to impact position do you turn them clockwise or counter clockwise?

What i mean about counter clockwise is like when you throw a stone at the lake to do the fishjumps

I am a left hand golfer

As I understand it, from the top, at the start of the down swing the hands drop straight down. As the hands continue to travel to the impact position, the trailing hand will start to roll over the top of the lead hand, which turns the club face into the ball. In a left hander's case, that would be counter clock wise. I am right handed, and my trailing right hand turns clock wise, over my my leading left hand....more so after impacting the ball.

I am also in the belief that all this turning of the hands pretty much takes place on it's own during the down swing. I never think about what my hands are doing during the swing, unless there is a different than normal ball flight I need to pull off. What ever the hands do on the up swing from the address position, they have to do the opposite to return to the same address position on the down swing.

Anyways that's my story, and I am sticking to it......

For you as a left hander the forearms will rotate slightly counter-clockwise going back, and clockwise going forward.

Don't do anything with the hands. When you finish your backswing, just let the left elbow(since you are a leftie)drop down to your left hip or thereabouts and keep the grip light, the hands will do what they were intended to do by themselves. The clubhead then passes the hands which turn by themselves.
Trying to turn the hands is a very, very bad idea.
