I have a problem with over using my lower body. I have always had it, so this makes me a low 70's player on one day and the next day i can be low 80's. I happened to notice in pros that their right kneecap for right handers stays facing forward even at the top of their swing. So i tried this yesterday and struck the ball tremendously well. Was this just luck or am I focusing in on the correct thing? Because I know my kneecap has always pointed way right at the top of my swing so this is why I keyed in on this part. Response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Re: Overswinging
You should try and keep your trail knee braced and steady in the backswing, this allows you to pivot correctly while keeping your weight on the inside of your trail foot. If you let your trail knee to sway out then your upper body will also sway too much creating instability. The swing thought of turning in a barrel is a good way to consider it.

TBH it was probably just the placebo effect of not focusing on something external hence the rest of your swing would be on subconsciuuos autopilot.
I had an experience teaching a tour player to keep their tongue in the roof of their mouth as they swung. He won that week. Just got his mind off all his etchhnical thoughts

Re: Overswinging
I do not believe you are a teacher. Also, what tour player are you referring to?
Since you have no profile and have no handicap, it is difficult to allow you any credibility.

Are you really going to attack every one of my posts because it really is making you look silly. You never have anything constructive to say because when you try I poke more holes in it than a sieve. If you want a serious debate about technique or psychology or physiology then i'm willing to discourse.
The tour i'm referring to is not a big tour, it is the alps tour and one lady professional on the duramed tour. I dont profess to work with the top guys.
And no, i'm not a teacher. I am a coach - and golf professionals dont have handicaps - just for your reference. I dont have a gender or place or residence on my profile either, that doesnt make me a vagabond hermaphrodite. Although I am sure you will come up with something whitty to say about that.Last edited by rogue; 08-26-2010, 10:57 PM.
