As Go Low pointed out in his recent post on tension, the left arm is misunderstood by some. I like to think of the left arm as the key to the backswing move and also to impact position.
On backswing the left arm bicep should be against the left pec as the chest turns, some like VJ place a headcover under their armpit as a drill to insure they are doing it correctly.
On the downswing, the left arm stays against the chest and straightens into impact.
Those who chickenwing it will notice an immediate gain in power and trajectory by doing the drill.
