  • snap hook!

past 3 weeks i have developed a nasty snap hook with my woods and hybrids!
earlier in the season when i was struggling with my irons i couldnt go wrong with the longer clubs
i have tried everything inc grip, stance, ball position, posture, tempo all to no avail
will have to try and get to see a pro asap

    Re: snap hook!

Ian, you may be stalling your body turn, this tends to let the arms whip through creating hooks. Make sure you rotate through to a full finish with your chest facing the target and up on your right toe.

Another problem can be swinging too much around your body, try steepening your swing a little by keeping the clubhead a little outside the ball on the takeaway, this will encourage you to get the arms a little higher in the backswing.

    I hope this helps.

What Brian says, lazy hips cause snap hooks. Also, flipping prior to impact can cause it.

          Sorted!
been working very hard on tempo, started using a minute pause at the top of my backswing and hey presto the long soft draw shape has returned!

          happy days

Good for you, yes, the pause is allowing you time to turn the lower half and this takes away the problem of lazy hips. Also, this will help you lag deeper into impact which takes away the flipping problem.
