Up until now I have been swinging a bit flat with my left arm seeming to go around my chest and almost losing my hands behind me. In trying to correct this when the club gets to parallel on the takeaway I pull the left arm up steeper which is almost a feeling of lifting it up close to vertical to keep it on plane when in reality it's probably lifting at a 45 degree angle. Is this the correct feeling to have in the left arm because at the moment it feels very foreign.

Re: Left arm in backswing
Without seeing it on video I cannot say for 100% certain, but I give this general piece of advice. Don't roll the left arm over. Wherever your hands go from there is where they go.
The more you roll your left arm going back, the more you'll have to re-roll it going forward. What's worse is when you're making your forward swing there's some torque pulling on your left arm making it more difficult to roll back.

Pardon my impertanance but this is contrary to what you advocated a few years back.

Curious though, where did you see me say something different? I don't ever remember advocating a rolling of the forearms.
