I just got back from shooting my best 18 and my best 9.
I have been practicing in my yard doing what Go Low was describing as best as I know how. Today I went to the course and started by hitting a bucket of balls. WOW, I was never able to hit my fairway woods and long irons like I did on the range. Well I figured I had time to play 18 before it got dark so off I went. So the first hole is a par 5, I have pared it before but have shot a 12 before as well. I shot a 6 and moved on. Our 2nd hole is a par 4 with 2 bodies of water to cross. I put my 2nd shot in the 2nd body of water. My tee shot was long but too far right, I was making the hole longer. I shot an 8. Next is a par 3 over water, I cleared that and promptly 4 putted for a 6. The 5th hole a par 4 I managed an 8 but must have figured something out along the way. Even though my scoring was no better than usual over the first 5 holes, I felt I was hitting the ball better.
The last 13 holes I managed 9 over par! My average score this year is 104. Today I shot a 93 for 18 and 40 for the back 9. Both personal bests. Not to mention 11 strokes below my average this year.
I wish Go Low was here to learn of what he has done. HE and only HE is responsible for my more than likely last round of the year which I am still on a high from!
Thanks for reading. I just had to share. Go Low's posts turned on a light bulb with me, finally getting on the course proved I am now getting it. Can't wait to play again. If it's this year or next, I think I have turned a corner.
Thanks again to Go Low!
