  • Correct swing plane

    Hi Team

Can i please ask, according to this snippet the swing plane is the line from the club running towards his shoulder. I always thought the swing plane was the line parallel to the angle of the club at address? can someone please clarify if I have been mistaken all this time?

    My other http:www.theefficientgolfer.com/anal-tiger-woods.html

question refers to this analysis. Am I right to assume the swing plane is affected by our angle at posture and how are hands hang? Basically he is saying tiger woods has a steeper plane, because his hands are closer to his body. So does that mean, when people address the ball a bit further away from them, they automtically shallow out their swing plane? is my assumption correct here?

    thanks Mahbo

    Re: Correct swing plane

The closer one stands the more upright the swing. Take Jim Furyk, his hands are almost touching his upper legs at address. As one moves further away from the ball at address, unless one does something to manipulate the swing, one's swing gets flatter. The optimal distance from the ball at address to produce the optimal swing plane is to have the hands at least one hand's width from the thighs to the butt end of the club.

thanks for the reply Keiko. I guess going off the definition of a swing plane I was taught ( the angle of the way the club is lying at address), you can actually see that when Tiger Woods has his hands closer to him, the club is resting at a steeper angle.
