  • Hitting Hybrids

    Hey guys,

I was just wondering if anyone has some good tips in hitting hybrid clubs?

I carry a 3 & 4 hybrid and have really dodgy results. I'm not sure wether I should be addressing it like a wood or an iron? I hardly ever use them but want to start, as when I'm teeing off more conservatively I'm having to hit a 5 iron.

    Any pointers?

    Cheers in advance.

Ball position with the hybrid should be the same as if it were the comparable iron.

Only if it's the same length as the comparable iron.

What you may find, Carlito, is that the long irons seem too long and the short irons too short.

The way around the long irons is to grip down (choke up) until you're comfortable. In a set of standard length, loft, and lie, I'll hold the 3 and 4 iron (or iron-length hybrid) almost at the end of the grip where it meets the shaft.

If you're gripping down and liking the result (but don't like gripping down) you can always have those clubs cut down and reweighted.
