      Re: Over the Top

In your backswing, you are resisting the hinging of your wrists; this creates tension in your arms, inhibits finishing of the backswing, prevents the dropping of the right elbow into the right hip area on the downswing, and forces you off balance.
Until you get rid of the tension and establish better tempo and balance, you will continue to do what you are doing.

Your video is 12 seconds, the third one is ... but the other one is 13 secs ( www.youtube.com/user/hen1rik#p/u/1/Y18EKHpbgZI ) and gives more clues. I think you are deliberately overspinning your body (to hit further?) => it spins too early ahead of the swing => your swing is outside-in => you slice. Try to let (your arms +) your body be more relaxed and do not spin it consciously, simply let your swing with the club spin your body naturally. Alas, don't try to increase the speed of the clubhead (and shoot further) by spinning your body because then you do it too early. If you are relaxed, your swing will make your body spin naturally and quickly enough and your wrists will hinge. You don't slice and you hit further! I don't mean resisting spinning - one typically does that while putting and chipping. Resisting the spin caused by a long heavy iron both hurts and may cause inside-out swings and hooks or pushs. So, once again I agree with Keiko in "get rid of the tension and establish better tempo and balance". Your practise swing actually is more relaxed and has a better rhythm. I hope the above helps you to repeat it at play.

I dont see so much wrong with your swing.. It is a Rotary 'single plane' type swing. You take the club back nicely onto your shoulder plane, this type of swing does take the club back a little under plane but returns on the same swingpath. It is difficult to see exactly but I do not detect you coming outside the target line either. I would concur that your grip is probably a bit tight that is inhibiting your wrist hinge and release.

You did not say what was wrong with your ball flight but I would imagine that it is pushing out to the right. If this is the case then it is due to your tight grip keeping the club face open at impact, a lighter grip in this case will allow the club to release better and create a straighter/draw ball flight.

              Re: Over the Top

And all this happens from set up to strike in less than a second, it's 1, 2 forget the Mississippi .And most of that is back swing, the rest happens in a split second, and I mean a fraction of a second. Back swing and it's final position before down swing is really important so you can afford a second. this will stop you screwing up and fighting the momentum of the club but you will be finished and on your follow through almost before 2. What this means is you will need your downswing and follow through to become naturalised, you just can't put all those tips, hints and techniques with conscious thought into a split second. I know if I have a problem with something back past my right leg and try and think it out, things go horribly wrong. You will eventually isolate the problem/problems hence the usefulness of all the info. given to you in this thread. Having the informed wisdom of the second person and the camera is great. I know that for me, too much leg movement, my arms coming away from my chest on the back swing and occasionally too much extension (trying to hit the skin off it) are where things go wrong for me and I have learned to find and fix them without conscious thought during my swing. you will find that to. Have a look at the David Blair and Shawn Clements videos. they teach how to make your swing natural. And a lot of practice. It works for me.
              Happy hitting , radar1
