Hey everyone!! new to this site, and like my name says I LOVE GOLF BUT NEED HELP !!! I have been golfing for approximately 10 years now, I am now 24. My problem is distance and hitting the ground before the ball, even when i get a clean hit on the ball im only driving about 180, and the ball is coming off to the right every single time!!?? last year I got 2 lessons and maybe 20 out of the 100 balls i hit went about 260. that was at the end of the season and I can not for the life of me remember ALL of the little things i was tought. I would like to save some money and not have to pay for the same tips again thats why im here, if someone could PLEASE share there thoughts and or tips with me that would be HIGHLY APPRECIATED, golf is a passion of mine and I want to become a decent player. Thanks for reading, have a nice day guys

Re: Need urgent HELP!!
You could be standing too close to the ball, you could be swaying off balance during your swing, you could be swinging too hard and off plane, you could have the ball positioned wrong. without seeing your swing, it's hard to say.

Re: Need urgent HELP!!
Here the cause.
1. hitting the ground behind the ball (with an iron) is caused by the bottom of your swing beiing too far back. Simple as that. No technique reason necessary.
FIX - go onto the range, draw a spray paint line on the ground, place the ball on top and get your club to make a divot on the line and after it NOT BEFORE IT. Keep your ass there until you can do it. Dont ask why you cant, Just keeop yourself there until you can. At first you may only hit the line once out of 10, stay until it gets better every day.
2. Ball goes right becasue the clubface iis aiming right at impact.
FIX - try turning your clubface left, then grip
or turn your hands more to the right on the club (stronger grip)
or rotate the clubface through impact (turning the club counter clockwise through impact)
With your driver the loss of distance is caused by lack of swing speed or maybe by the open face - in which case try tip 2. If it is lack of swing speed then turn the club the other way, hold it with your right handa nd make as loud a swish noise as you can around the area where the ball would be. Repeat this feeling with the club the correct way around. If you cant create a whoosh noise then probably no one can teach you to, you are basically an evolutionary retard and would have been weeded out by natural selection if we were still in the wild (thank your lucky stars you are not).Last edited by rogue; 05-01-2011, 02:44 PM.

Re: Need urgent HELP!!
Create the mental image of the teed up ball being the head of a big nail that is pointing towards the target. Now use your driver to hit the nail into an imaginary timber infront of it. Just like hitting a nail, keep your eyes focused sharply on the exact spot on the ball (nail head) where the hammer (Driver) will drive it forward and do not take your eyes off untill the ball has gone.
The suggestion in the post above where you make a divot ahead of a line is a good one to help to stop you hitting behind the ball.
