  • HELP!!!!!!!Distance and Launch angle!

i just switched to new shafts in my irons this year. i went from r300 to s300, now my launch angle is extremely to high and i lost about 10 yards. i know i have a strong enough swing for s300 but i just cant seem to get the lower ball flight i like and used to hit. and its just not my irons, it also my driver too...i switched from a TM R7 with a prolaunch red to a nike VR str8 fit with a stock stiff shaft. i can barely carry the new driver 225 and the ball flight is stupid high....i need and want a lower ball flight for the kansas weather and wind. Any help would be awesome.

    Thank you
    Brandon

I am not experienced enough on club fitting to help you. The person on this site that will be able to is 'Lowpost' he is an expert on the subject. He may be away at the moment but I am sure he will give his advice when he is around.

try going back to your old shafts lol

seriously, what do you think its the problem. normally a stiffer shaft gives a lower flight. has your technique changed at all? what was wrong with your old shafts anyways?

Nothing was wrong with the old shaft. Just a new driver that's all. And nothing has changed in my swing. Well I id change my grip slightly, from a weak to more of a strong to help draw the ball. That's it. Help on the super high launch angle

well, if you havent changed your technique and your flight is higher its obviously the shaft is not right for you. Get a new shaft, one that fits you for how you like to hit the ball, not from what numbers a computer spits out. technique wise you could always try to take loft of the club by having your hands further forward at impact or by moving tha ball back but this is not the right answer, it is correcting the fault of the club, and if the shaft is whipping through impact adding loft tot he head then there is nothing you can do really apart from put it in the bin or sell it.

                Re: HELP!!!!!!!Distance and Launch angle!

if the clubhead is moving through too quickly it will add loft and decrease speed. basically hitting high and short. it is usually the opposite way but it can hapen this way too

                    Re: HELP!!!!!!!Distance and Launch angle!

no, the shaft is whipping through too early becaause your swing is too slow for the shaft. Sometimes this happens when the club is too whippy, and sometimes when it is too stiff. It is not matched for your swingspeed. Slowing your wingspeed down wont help, speeding it up would have a better effect but it would throw too many things out of the window resulting in you mistriking more, plus the fact that you wouldnt increase your swingspeed substanially enough by simply applying more effort. Try 3 years of weight training and flexibility and maybe the swingspeed will increase by 10%, until then GET A SHAFT THAT ACTUALLY SUITS YOU.
If there was no problem with the old shaft just bring that back. Changing your technique to compensate for a shaft which doesnt fit you JUST BECAUSE IT IS A NEW CLUB is ludicrous. you are cutting off your nose to spite you face.it's the same as saying you bought suit that is two sizes two small, but you want to try and still wear it because you spent a lot of money on it. So you cut your arm off just to fit into the suit better

                      Re: HELP!!!!!!!Distance and Launch angle!

Check the kick point of the new shafts...I bet they are higher then the old ones. High kick points help you get the ball higher...this is the only thing I can think of. And Rogue is right about the stiff flex will cause lower flights, but if you can't swing fast enough, you don't flex them to get the benefit of rebound, and you defiantly loose distance.

                      Or

They are just simply mislabeled. Have them checked out.
