  • Hitting from Winter Tee Mats

Does anyone have any advice for playing off tee mats, it seems that I am hitting all my shots very low from them and just dont seem to get in air properly?

My only advice would be to stop hitting from them completely.

I'm finding the same problem with short iron shots off the mat and winter in Germany makes snow shots necessary from November to March (my advice, use a sand wedge and coloured balls).

For winter swing practice, I use my woods direct off the mat and forget iron shots till spring. I also practice putter shots on my 'bermuda rough' carpet at home!!

Seriously though, I have seen some guys bringing door mats to the range, the kind which you put outside the house with straw about an inch long. The other trick I heard about was to bury a brush in the grass and hit from that but I wouldn't imagine that the range allow that.

Re: Hitting from Winter Tee Mats

        Hi There,

This is a common problem in the UK during the Winter.

I find that it it better not to tee the ball at all with irons.

Most people using the driving range mats don't hit off a tee peg so why do we try teeing the ball up on a Winter mat.

You just have to punch the ball a little.

        Hope this helps.

        Ian.
