  • Forearm position

Hi all, I am just wondering if anyone knowes. I am right handed and was told the other day by my playing partner that my right forearm was not bent enough. He said that the left forearm should be straight and the right bent and you should almost be ablt to see daylight between them if looking from behind. Is this right?

    Thanks

    Re: Forearm position

    Hi Noodles,

I'm not quite sure what you are talking about. Please explain a bit more. Since you can not bend your forearm are you talking about bending the wrist or the elbow? Is this at the address? Backswing? followthrough? Where are you supposed to see daylight through?

I believe he is talking about bending his elbow at address. Not too sure on the sun thing though..

        Re: Forearm position

Sorry guys for not making it clear enough. I mean bent at the elbow. He told me that I should bend my right elbow (so that the fold was facing the sky) and heep my left elbow locked and in doing someone should be able to stand behind me (looking down the target line) and put a club in between my arms. It just felt very starnge bending my right elbow and keeping my left straight and was wondering if this information is correct. Thanks.

          Re: Forearm position

If you are talking about at address, then NO your elbow should not be bent. Neither elbow should be locked either though. You want to be comfortably straight at address.

If you are talking about at the top of your backswing, then YES your right elbow should be bent.

To find the right position at the top of your backswing, try this. With a club in your hands in your 'set' position, raise your arms to parallel. Cock your wrists so the shaft is pointing stright up. Now, turn your shoulders so they are 90* to your target line. This is the correct position at the top of your backswing.

              Re: Forearm position

be sure not to have arms locked straight at address. just set up to ball and let arms hang down naturally. YOu don't want tension in your arms at address or you will have big problems
