  • Shoulders in the swing

    Hi Guys
Been going for lessons with local club pro for about 4 weeks(once a week). He changed my left hand grip and is concentrating on correct finish.
My question - on the takeaway if it feels like my left shoulder is following the club on the backswing(hope it makes sense), which is what I have always done, then my contact is not very consistent, but on the other hand if I make backswing with the feeling of the right shoulder just turning away behind me into a solid right side, then contact to the ball is really solid. Could it be that my top half was swaying off the ball with me concentrating on getting the left shoulder through uner my chin? Sorry guys i hope this makes sense.

    Re: Shoulders in the swing

Your pro should be the one answering this as he has more information. I set my shoulders parallel to the ground and I just try to have a good posture at set up and rotate my shoulders and body around that angled invisible line from head, neck, torso, without dropping the right shoulder through the downswing. There's a difference between rotating and dropping. As far as how far you rotate I honestly believe that is a matter of how far can you rotate and still be comfortable and in control. If you push things to far you will start the sway and slide. There is a change in thinking at the moment towards 3/4 rotation and still getting power and increased accuracy while not ending up with back problems at an early age. I hope this helps

I had a similar problem, but overcome it by thinking I had a beechball between my knees on myback swing
