I read the reply to derezed about ball position and also read the article for which I link was provided for a ball position lesson. One of my problems is if you start with the ball in the middle of your stance for the PW through 7 iron it seems your hands will never be in front of the ball which seems to help on these shots and is usually recommended. It seems that you have to bend your wrist a little to get the hands in a better position. Can you explain this aspect a little better?

Hands Just Ahead of the Ball
Hi jambalaya,
In fact by having the ball in the middle of the stance this encourages the hands to be slightly ahead of the ball. Remember the club shaft should be an extension of your left arm (right arm for left handers!!!) it may be that you are cupping your left wrist at address which is making your hands appear level or behind the ball.
The photo below showes me with a sand wedge with ball in the middle of my feet, as you can see the hands are slightly ahead of the ball.
Hope this helps
