Quote of the month:
"It's easy to see golf not as a game at all but as some whey-faced, nineteenth-century Presbyterian minister's fever dream of exorcism achieved through ritual and self-mortification." ~Bruce McCall
At address, you can be set up anywhere from 50/50 (left foor/right foot) to 40/60. Just before you reach the top of the baskswing it should be about 30/70 and at the top of the followthrough the weight should be 90/10.
I'm a golfaholic, no question about that. Counseling wouldn't help me. They'd have to put me in prison, and then I'd talk the warden into building a hole or two and teach him how to play. ~Lee Trevino
I find if you keep the ball positioned just inside the left heel with all clubs and just adjust the width of your feet (narrower the shorter the club) your weight distribution on your feet adjusts accordingly. For example, with a driver your feet should be at their widest apart (a little wider than shoulder width) and with the ball positioned just inside the left heel in order to position the clubhead behind the ball your right shoulder is lower than the left thus positioning your weight more on your right side. Both the right shoulder being lower and the weight distribution are a result of the width of the stance and the ball position. Another example, if you are hitting a short iron your feet are considerably narrower than that with the driver. Due to the reduction in the width of the stance and with the ball position in the same place (just inside the left heel) in order to place the club behind the ball the right shoulder is not nearly as low as it was with the driver and therefore your weight will be more evenly distributed.
