  • Head Game

    Hello everyone
I have been away from the forum for quite awhile. Some personel stuff and a partial knee replacement in Dec.
Now back to this wonderful game of golf.
The last two golf lessons I have had have been great. Hitting every club perfect, toward every target my instructor ask me to hit. In fact I did so well in my last lesson it was a freebee because I did so well. And on the range prior to the round everything perfect. And then came the round, and you might have thought I just started playing golf. I just don't get it. It is driving me nuts. I lose confidence in my golf swing. Nothing feels right. No tempo or rythm. What gives, please help.

    Hey Dant,

Do you not feel good on the first tee itself? or is it following bad shots? If so is there a pattern to the bad shots?

Don't get get down, we have all been through the same thing at some point or another. Lets identify the possible cause(s) first and then go from there.

It doesn't matter wheather it is the first or last tee. Once I get on the course nothing feels comfortable. It doesn't happen all the time, but more than I would like. I need to practice how I play. When you practice you get yourself into a hitting groove. On the course it is more stop and go. I need to duplicate the same on the range. Take a few extra seconds between shots. I'm going to try it and see what happens. Even if I don't go on the course and just practice.

I find that 'TEMPO' makes a terrific difference to my game. Rushed shots tend to create erratic golf, if I take a nice steady backswing, pause at the top then progressively accelerate into the ball then the result is a nicely hit shot.
