Need Advice on Teaching a child th game

I'm a duffer with more enthusiasm than skill. I have an eight year old granddaughter and told her I would teach her the game this spring. She's a natural athlete (gymnast) and would probably be good at golf. If she can do a back flip on a four-inch wide beam surely she could hit a little ball into a hole.

I've never taught anyone to play before. Any and all advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
