Head Tilt At Address

Hi guys,

A question on the address position: Should you tilt your head away from the direction you are hitting?

I have noticed on watching some of the golf on TV that many of the players seem to do this, some make the move just before they begin the backswing. Is there a benefit or am I just seeing things?

Hi Gambit,
I think you will find it is just a rhythm thing, you should never try to keep you head still, it should move slightly to the right on the backswing (right handed golfer). If you keep your head still you risk a reverse pivot.

The important thing to remember is to keep the head behind the ball at impact.

I think there is no such thing as lifting you head up on a shot, some players simply let their head go through the shot instead of keeping it behind the ball.

If you can get some slow-motion video, gambit, you'll see it's actually spine tilt. The golfers' whole upper body is tilted away slightly (I think 8* is the PGA average). This is because when gripping the club, one hand is lower on the club, tilting the shoulders. But to just tilt the shoulders bends the spine. SO the solution was (is) to keep your shoulders square and tilt your spine (keeping your spine straight, and shoulders square.
