  • left arm rotate on backswing?

    Hi All,
I've noticed from watching some video clips of the pros in action when you watch them swing face on the logo on a pros glove is fully visible when the hands reach waist height . I would have thought that unless there is some rotation of the left arm on the way back the logo would be slightly angled towards the ground so my question is should you rotate the left arm on the backswing ?

You are correct there is some rotation but nothing that should be tampered with.

From set up (face on) the glove badge faces the target, then at 9 O'clock the toe of the club should be pointing skywards, hence the badge facing the mirror, it is then a straight up movement from here.

The other way of looking at the amount of "rotation" is the club face moves from facing the target to the mirror and no more.

    Hope this helps

    Ian.

Well, the answer to your question is a simple "no". Your arms should not rotate per se, the club, ahds and arms should move as a unit. At hip height the club and arms should be the same position in relation to each other.

This is what I mean: address the ball, now keep everything together to hip height. Now move the club, your hands and arms horizontally until they are in front of you. You should be square again.

If for whatever you are not square, something has moved out of synch.

Hope this explains it. Visually, if you have a good grip (not too weak or too strong), you should see all of the glove logo looking face-on.

Thanks for the replies lads . I'll need to get a club in my hands when I finish work to see if everything is moving in synch to hip level on the backswing .
