    Ricky,

When practicing do you just stand and keep putting balls down or do you step away and re-align yourself each time?

Each shot at the range must be approached as you would approach a shot on the course, otherwise you are just exercising, not practicing.

That's because you are in standing the same place with the same club and groove yourself into a good swing. Try this next time at the range, hit a ball, switch clubs. Hit another and switch again. This way, you are not standing in the same place and have to think about alignment each time you approach the ball.

I have been working at the range very hard this winter and I have found that when you have a perfect lie and no walking involved it's easy, this is because as Gord say's you just hit one ball after the other from the same perfect lie.

When you play the course you rarely have a perfectly flat lie, sounds to me like you are not taking into account the contours of the course and moving ball position for uphills,downhills,sidehills...... etc.

Like me you just need to play more course golf (when/if the weather gets better)

Yep, its range golf youre playing. Thats maybe not a bad thing as when youre hitting good balls solidly you want to groove that in and learn the muscle memory, but equally you must understand what you are doing to hit the ball well

I would also try playing a round on the range playing your course. i.e take a driver. If its a good one take your 8i, if its bad, your 5w or 5i etc. Then a pitch or chip. Each time, step away, then check grip, alignment, angles etc

If you start hitting it bad again, go back to repeated swings with one club until you hit the groove and then start again.
