I have a trouble of coming inside with my hands. Ive been workin on swining straight back and wide.
What can i do to have a wide takeaway like tigers.
ok not exactly like tigers but i want width.
ive read all of tigers how i play book and it doesent say nothing about the takeaway.
I think you are trying to hard to repeat someone elses swing. Make your OWN swing. Compared to you, Tiger has a much faster swing and he is physically much stronger so why would his swing be suited to you? Keep working on the drills we have given you over the past month or so and you'll do fine.

As for the take away, start by turning your shoulders away from the target. Try practicing infront of a full length miror so you can see what it looks like.

Getting wide will help build power, but it will cause more problems when trying to build a new swing. I would treat that as a touch up after you have worked all the major bugs out.

Unfortunately building a new swing takes time. It requires thought on every swing to ensure you are not repeating old habbits. It requires repetativeness to teach the muscles the new path you wish to groove. Most importantly, after all the work and practice, you must TRUST your new swing. If you don't trust it, you are going to run into all sorts of problems.

I was told oneday, that you should find a pro with the same body shape and build as yourself and copy them you will have more sucess than coping tiger if you are only 5foot 6 and 30kg over weight.

          Ricky,

I think what your looking for is the feeling of a one piece takeaway.

As Gord says start the swing with your shoulders, but this must be the most relaxed part of the swing (very light grip).

The feeling you should have is your back has turned away from the target with a feeling like your almost out of control but you must trust your swing it will find the ball on the downswing.

To many poor players do not turn the shoulders behind the ball.

          Hope this helps

          Ian.

The only way I can decribe it is like this. Have a practice swing now from your finished position at the top of your follow through slowly swing back to the top of your backswing (without stopping), keep swinging gently a few times. Can you feel it in your left shoulder and left tricep as you swing back?
Golfers have different tiggers to start their backswing, some turn their heads a couple of inches right , some go straight back, some hold the club above the ground, some like myself have a little forward press to start the backswing (I do this otherwise I tend to to have a out to in swing) which is ok but not what I want.
Experiment a little and see what works for you
