Guys I need help, anyone ever use golftec?

I've been in a slump, it sucks bad.

I can't figure it out. Has anyone used golftec? Its a bit expensive but looks like it may be worth it.

Yeah, I know golftec.

Um, it's a great "system" but golfers with better ability, golfers with a desire to enhance technology through exacting swing analysis, bio, launch monitors would gain from using golftec to get that little bit of help.

I'm not sure what your golfing ability is but if you're not a 70's scorer (who traditionally have a lot to gain from the above), I'd say you'd be better off finding a good golf instructor ... For the simple reason that unless you swing consistently and strike the ball consistently, no amount of technology is going to correct major swing faults ... what's the point of watching 7 swings when they're all different? You know what I mean??

Honestly, if you're not looking for that next big frontier as a good golfer, you're better off finding a good golf instructor nearby with video/swing analysis and go for lessons to get you out of the slump.

I went there to check it out and they wanted like $150 just for the swing analysis and before they'd even begin telling me what was wrong.

I think one major benefit to taking lessons at a place that has a driving range is that you begin to develop a relationship with an instructor and they keep close eyes on you and give you suggestions even when you're out there practicing long after you've had a lesson with them. I think good instructors take pride in seeing their students do well, at least that's what I find at the range I go to.

For the $150 (give or take) you'd get three or four good lessons and will have developed a solid relationship, a relationship which will be strengthened by taking an additional tune up lesson every-so-often when you feel you're beginning to stray.

I had a few lessons with one pro year's ago and every time he’s out practicing on the range he’ll give me a few pointers if he sees that I’m doing something wrong. This summer I'm going to start back with him to tighten up my game; this is the commitment I made to myself for 2005.

I couldn't give you any better advice than what you siad you are planning to do. Obviously the instructor cares about his clients and you have built trust with him. For all others reading this thread, you should be trying to follow this model as well. No gadget or technology will substitute for a good teacher and a willing student.

I think that with a few lessons and some of the outstanding advice from many of the very knowledgeable folks here like Graham Arnott I will see my game get off to a great start in 2005. I’m very happy I found this site, and it’s so comforting (sorry but misery loves company) to know that there are so many of us out here who love this game yet are frustrated by all the information overload we read in the magazines.

I had tried 2 different professionals, 1 help me more with my game in the lesson than the other. He is a much better teacher and explains thing properly. The other only watches you and gives you advice.

Both of these professionals are at driving ranges. When I practice at the first guys driving range the better teacher he comes by and says hi and says when do I want my next lesson, while the other guy comes up says hi and says hit a couple and let me see, He is the better coach and I give him all the glory for my improvement. I tell everyone he is the one to see if they want lessons.

I've had lessons a few times in my life and I decided to give golftec a try. I bought the package for 10 lessons and was very disappointed. The golf tec never really lived up the hype they showed me when selling me the 10 lesson package. The numbers were kind of useless and the lessons kept harping on one thing. All that I learned in 10 lessons could have been condensed in to about 2 or 3 lessons. I took my lessons at the richfield/edina minnesota location. I'm a 6 handicap and was looking for some refining my swing. It was a rip off. I would not recommend it.
My 3 lessons from a pro years earlier were much better. I would adise anyone to find a pro they know or have had a referral to and go to them. Go over your goals for the lessons and I think you will have much better progress with a club pro at a course.

Golf Tec is a serious ripoff and anyone considering this as an option should save a bunch of money and go see a real golf professional. I was a 6 handicap when I signed up, paid a $ grand and quickly became a 12 handicap. The instructors are terrible and they all have a different opinions on how to teach. I went from one instructor to another and they were all horrible. SAVE YOUR MONEY and don’t do this to yourself!!!! I feel like they actually stole from me….

in the age of technology, everyone want to use it to analyse their golf swing and get a load of information in the hope that the secret to golf lies in some magical number that a kvest produces. Let me tell you from a standpoint of more understanding than anyone else in the world (yes I am modest). Run like the wind. This stuff is bull. it may have its place for some people but generally its just a gimmick to pull techies in. Hogan never had an effin k vest, sam snead did fine without video analysis and no byron nelson wasnt hooked on the trackman impact data.

learn to control the clubface. Hit a repeatable shot, then get better course managemnt. Anything else is just whiffle.

Golf coaching will go full circle, you mark my words. in 100 years time we will all just be teaching the basics of ball flight again. I cant wait for those days to come back
