  • My swing in the gallery

I got my swing on video but for some reason couldn't save the files to disk from my camera. But was able to take some still photos from it. I have uploaded it to the gallery. one front view and the other side view.

Looks good but it could just be the photos but looks like your right elbow is coming away from your side on the backswing (1st photo of front view).

also through impact it looks as though your right hand is overtaking your left (image 6 front view).

You must have some swing speed to have put that much bend on the club ( image 4). Dont think I inflict that much bend even if i used a ultra whippy shaft...although Iv neva seen my swing on video or camera.

Do you find you have any problems with your swing or shots??

I don't know how fast I swing my club, but that is my 6 iron which I get around 170 yards with.

On the most part I can hit my iron pretty good. When I play a round I start hitting wayward shots around the 14th hole, I get pretty tired being over weight. When I'm at the driving range people next to me cannot beleive I'm a high handicap player, Most people judge a player buy how well they hit a ball on their full swing. I am very ordinary around the greens.

What do you average over par thru to the 12th or 13th holes??

If fitness is the main problem with your golf game then its probably best to work on that before working intensively on your swing as changes in strength, weight and fitness level affects your swing.

Re: My swing in the gallery

I played today, I was 10 over for the first 13 holes finished 18 over par. This fitness problem is only short term, I had 3 months off golf, and was driving taxi's 5 days a week till new year. So I have lost a lot of fitness and put on 8kg. I'll pick up my fitness again over the next few weeks.

Ignoring the 14th onwards, where were you losing shots??were you constantly hitting right or left etc.?

I have replied in the photo gallery but just so everyone at this site is aware you are a "bandit" if I had to play you in a matchplay with that swing off 18 there would be a stewards inquiry.

You have a great swing and from what I can see absolutley faultless, to play to an 18 h/capp there is something seriously missing in your short game.......like you forget to take your putter out lol.

You have a swing of a single figure h/capper and you should work on that short game to get there.

              Great swing

              Ian.

Re: My swing in the gallery

Yea i agree ian his swing is one of the better 18 handicap swings ive seen, you must have the yips mate!

Do you hit the ball very high mr change?
picture 6 on the front on view seems like u lose a little lag maybe flipping a little. you didnt hit a ball so couldnt see if u take a divot but with picture 4's lag you would think you would hit a 6 iron further than you do.

I agree - great swing. If the short game is your problem, then get working on it. As for fatigue, make sure you are bringing lots of water and fresh fruit with you to replenish your energy. I assume you walk when you play - do you carry your bag or have a pull cart?

Re: My swing in the gallery

                      Thankyou for the positive feedback.

About the divots, I don't take much dirt. I do get hight on my ball, but don't have the ball spin back, just one bounce and stop action.

About the missed greens I am either left or right of the greens. I lose my strokes around and on the green.

Re: My swing in the gallery

Okay, so you are not taking divots and hitting your 6I 170 yards. You are missing right and left. It sounds like your swing speed is enough to to move up to stiff shafts, which will give you a bit more accuracy. The distance you will loose going to stiff shafts can be made up by coming in a bit steeper on the ball and taking a bit more ground after contact. You could also 'tip' your regular shafts to a 'firm' flex (in between a stiff and a reg) to get the best of both flexes.

I think you only have to work on your RHYTHM, it seems to me you acelerate too soon in the downswing and that makes you decelerate your body rotation at impact( shoulders and hips ),look at your left wrist in the follow through, this could be because of that, I had the same problem. Try not to early release the club as well. I'm talking only from my experience. Hope this help you improve your game.

About the rythem, take a closer look, Yes I do start my downswing fast, but it's all left side. I pull the club down with my left arm and my whole left side. Take a look at the 5th picture. I am in the slot with heaps of clubhead speed, my shoulders are still coiled against my hips, my right arm still is holding the L shape, and from here I releash my right side through the impact zone. I am still accelerating the club till hip high past impact.

I feel like I'm pulling the club down then pushing it through and up.
