      Re: Ball Distance

I would use a GW, but our courses are quite long and I am at 14 clubs (I usually don't bring my 2I since my 5W is similar in distance, but more accurate and consistant.) Besides, my gap is quite high in the distance range, but anI can pull out an extra 10 yards with my SW or knock off 10 yards off my PW quite easily to bridge the gap.

          Re: Ball Distance

I used to use 4 wedges - 60*, 56*, 52*, and PW. Now I've eliminated the 52* and only stick with 3 wedges.

My success in the game lies greatly in the usage of the wedges.

                  Re: Ball Distance

You can use any wedge from the sand well, if you take the time to practice the shots.

                    Re: Ball Distance

I hit my 5 wood the same distance as my 2 iron, but get more hight from the 5 wood.

                      Re: Ball Distance

I too definitely have a higher flight pattern with my 5W. The 2I has a more penetrating ball flight - good for hitting into the wind.

You guys might like this site on golf club distance calculator.

                        http://www.csgnetwork.com/golfclubdistancecalce.html

I've never read how it works but being a beginner I always woundered how far I should be hitting it. And for me it gives me something to shoot for.
                        But your mileage might vary.

That's a pretty good guide Gord. I just creep into the long. Some club though I'm right at the end of the average.
