  • To much hieght

Any ideas, I seem to be getting to much high from my irons of the ground, which is effecting my distance, had clubs fitted last year but since dropped my handicap by 10, is it possible I need to go back and have clubs de-lofted or more likely to be something to do with stance / swing.

Are you 'picking' the ball clean off the fairway or taking divots? Usually people who 'pick' the ball have very high ball flights. Those who take divots usually have slightly lower ball flight with much more distance. This is because you are hitting the ball on the dowsnwing where as if you are picking the ball you are hitting the ball in the bottom of your swing, just as you are starting your upswing. The difference in loft between the two is the face angle on the club. The difference in distance, besides the loft, is the club head speed will be greater in the downswing and it starts to slow down in the upswing.

      Hi Ed,

It may well be your stance, shoulders open, ball forward in your stance or a combination of them all.

Check......That your stance is not open.
That your shoulders are not open.
Ball position is not to far forward.

If you have any of the above combined with a slightly out to in swing path you will hit a high ball.

Check the above using a mirror or large window to reflect, video is best of course, let me know if all of these are ok.

      Hope this helps

      Ian.

        Cheers,

Very rare that I take any divots, especially 7 - 3 irons, will try to address and see what happens.
