Re: Rist Cock?
Don't get ahead of your instructor. If he is giving you drills, work on the drills given. If he wants you to work on a quarter swing without a full wrist cock, then that's what you need to work on. If he has future lessons planned, go with his pace.

Re: Rist Cock?
Seriously - if you want to improve, LISTEN TO YOUR INSTRUCTOR. Don't go jumping ahead with other pieces of the swing. Your instructor obviously has a plan. If you are going to do what ever you want in between lessons you may as well not go to the lessons at all. There is nothing more frustrating than giving someone a drill to work on until thier next session and they were working on something they heard from a friend or read in a magazine.

A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.
I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.
For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.
Re: Rist Cock?
I've gotta second Gord - don't jump ahead. Do the drills you've been given; THAT will have you ready for your next lesson.
@ Ricky: Wrist c*ck is one of the most highly discussed and obviously misunderstood thing in golf, IMO.
As shown in a million places, everybody talks about the two ways your wrist can move: one way produces a big range of motion, and the other way is limited. At address, the first way moves your hand away from and towards the target. The other way brings the club closer to and away from your face.
And now that you have that information in your head, you need to forget about it.
If your swing is sound, you don't even need to conciously cock your wrist - gravity will do it for you. Most male golfers automatically cock their wrists properly without ever thinking about it.
In fact, DNA, your instructor may not mention anything about your wrist cock in your next lesson, as you already cock your wrists properly at the top of your swing - if you always swing like you do in the video. I could put a watch on your left hand, and stick a comb under the face so that it touched the back of your left hand, and it would still be touching the back of your left hand at the top. Good stuff. I'll bet you weren't thinking about wrist cock when you made the video, did you?

Re: Rist Cock?
It is simply the hinging of your wrists. As Ben said, there are two ways of doing it, only one way is right. Don't worry - your instructor will show/explain all of this.

Re: Rist Cock?
STEVE - I don't want to say this again - practice what he is asking you to. You need the mechanics at the bottom of the swing to work right before you can do a full swing. LISTEN TO YOUR INSTRUCTOR. DON'T JUMP AHEAD!!!

Re: Rist Cock?
If you are playing a round of golf, use your old swing. My advice, don't play golf. Work on your swing. work on thr drills for as long as you can in between lessons so the movements are engrained into your muscles. Just when you think you have it perfect, keep practicing.

Re: Rist Cock?
I don't advise playing when you are in the middle of creating a new swing. If you are trying to work on a better swing, then concentrate on that. When you get a new full swing, then after some practice go play, but not in between. You will have lots of time to play all Summer.
